Kafe Hao Man Zhou好滿粥@ Kuchai Lama

This posting is a compilation from 2 separate visits to Kafe Hao Man Zhou. Both trips involving someone who wasn’t feeling well and longed for porridge.

 Trip No. 1 – T had a cough and wanted none greasy food, what else ? porridge lah

Trip No. 2 – F had a cough and wanted something that was easy on the throat , what else ? porridge lah.

And you still question –  why I associate eating porridge with being unwell ? I rest my case lah..

 Anyway…let’s talk about food instead..

 T likes  padi fields chicken / frogs/ katak 田雞and as I do not mind katak and would like to please T who was feeling below the weather ( hmm…do you say someone is above the weather if they are well ?) We ordered a big bowl of katak porridge to share.

 Due to T’s  cough , we didn’t order any crullers /yau char kwai to go with the porridge   The porridge was topped with ginger shreds ,  spring onions and those crunchy deep fried bee hoon thingie, the porridge was smooth and fine. There were ample pieces of the katak too. There were enough in the serving to feed both of us.   Both the sickly and the welly (huh ?) enjoyed the porridge.

On the second visit….

F had the Century egg and pork porridge (RM6) which she enjoyed I had the Hao Man boat porridge艇仔粥 ( RM6), apart from the customary spring onions, ginger and crunchy bee hoon, I also had  roasted peanuts and deep fried anchovies adorning the porridge. And in the porridge – a variety of stuff too, bits of carrots, pork as well as fish ( I am not sure was there any katak in this). I enjoyed my bowl of boat porridge, and on why it’s called boat porridge, I think it’s something to do with the ancient time where the  porridge seller goes around on a boat.Apart from porridge the cafe also offers noodles and rice.

Overall, my dining experiences at Hao Man Zhao has been good, the place was cozy and the people were friendly
