I have set my mind to try the food at Ming Chu as it was said that they specialized in roasted meat and so when I saw the deal on Living Social, it was a clear Yayyy ! Click click, beli beli
S had a Ice Kacang (RM4.50) which was as colourful and as pretty as a Christmas tree. There were tons of stuff in the ABC- coloured jelly, corn, cendol, cincau, red bean..but sad too say, sometimes too much is not a good thing..the ‘outer’ presentation was pretty but they should improve on the appearance of the contents too..
Roasted duck with herbs- we chose the ‘bottom section’ meaning the drum stick area and this, at RM16 was RM2 extra than the portion from the top/ breast area. The meat was kinda tough and my mum’s dentures didn’t quite manage to chew on this effectively, taste wise, not bad, the herbal smell wasn’t very prominent at the meaty part, it was only prominent when I was tasting the bony part.
Bitterguord with salted egg RM12, the bitterguord wasn’t bitter and it was soft and just cooked – thick sections , the salted egg tasted a bit dilute but still manage to impart that distinct salted egg aroma to the dish, not perfect but just average.
Claypot tofu RM12, there were cabbages, mushrooms, carrots, baby corn together with the tofu, There was a spiciness undertone of to the dish- nott sure where that was from as there were no chili in the dish, maybe it was the pepper ? taste wise, this was mediocre.
Apart from ordering dishes, there are also set meals like fried noodles and rice, which include a drink, soup for the day and fruits.
Overall, I would rate the dishes that we tried as a so –so meal.Location : Lot 1-1 58-1.1 59 First Floor, Pearl Point Shopping Mall, Batu 5, Jalan Klang Lama Ming Chu Restaurant is tucked in a corner- on the same level as Popular Bookstore at Pearl point Shopping Mall.
