Another meal from the Groupon stable ..haha.. the deal was for ‘ Italian Pizza and Pasta Dinner for two, for RM28 instead of RM75.90. Details of the deal from Groupon : Met up with Chunny on a Friday night for our Groupon meal at Muse which is a restaurant, bar and club .This was my first trip to Jaya One, we had to pusing-pusing a few rounds at the parking area before finally managing to get a spot to deposit the car for a few hours. Jaya One seemed a pretty happening place especially on a Friday night.. I was lucky that Chunny seemed to know her way around Jaya One, if I was to be the navigator then um..we might end up having breakfast the next day ( or the following week) instead.

Muse setting is cozy, paintings ( for sale) adorn the walls, and there was a restaurant area and then another area catering for drinks with a  pool table. At the eating area, we sat on the transparent chairs which  wasn’t that comfy after a while. I find the tables were a bit too close to each other so one might have to lower one’s tone when discussing  about stock options, spouses/ in-laws, malfunctioned body parts and other more personal matters. Upon closer inspection , we realised the drawing that we faced ( as shown below) is actually rather cheeky one lorrr.

For drinks-which were not part of the Groupon deal,  I had the Muse Punch RM10 and Chunny had the Pussyfoot (RM9)

Soup of the day was pumpkin soup- the soup came in gigantic saucers, gigantic circumference I must add,  but the part that acts as the ‘bowl’ is probably the normal size of a soup bowl. The soup was not bad, smooth and tasty.

Seafood Aglio Olio – the pasta  was angel hair . This was interesting as it tasted very local-like .  I find this light and tasty  , not heavy and overpowering like some pasta where one get a bit jelak after a few spoonful.  Frankly, if I was blindfolded and tried  this, I might say that this was tomyam flavoured meehoon, there were ample of prawns, squids and mussels in the dish. I did a search to find out what is Aglio Olio :  Aglio means garlic and Olio means oil, there you have it, the two main ingredients for aglio olio ! This version is also said to be the simplest to pasta to prepare as it doesn’t involve too many ingredients. The Groupon deal was for an 8” Chicken triple crown pizza but as we were feeling rather malnutritioned when we were ordering, we were enticed by the waitress to top up another RM8 to  add another four inches to the diameter of the pizza. Eh…that got me thinking, in countries that use the metric system- do they also order their pizza by the inches or centimeters ? The triple crown pizza turn out to be the thin crust type and for the toppings we had  three different styles of chicken, olives , pineapple and mushroom. At one point of time, where there seemed to be still a large number of pizza slices on the plate and we were starting to feel some fullness around the middle -  we wondered aloud that maybe we should have just stuck with the 8” instead, anyway, waste not, want not, we finished the pizza . This was pretty enjoyable  pizza .Overall, an enjoyable meal at Muse.

We head towards Flavour Bliss again for my last meal (for this short trip) inIndonesia. We stopped by Pondok Selasih , with the tagline : Selera Indonesia Sejati

We were extra hungry and while looking through the menu and deciding what we are going to have for lunch, we open the packet of curly worly chips- which according to Pak Host is a chips made of fish ( like our keropok but in a different shape)

For drinks, I decide to try out the Es Pulau Jawa ( Rp 15,000) – which is in concept like ABC but this came with mango juice, avocado, jackfruit, mango, ketan item ( I dunno how to translate this) and tapai ( fermented tapioca) . It was delicious ( and ultra sweet) , there are other versions too ; like Es Pulau Seribu which has sirsak juice, nata de coco, pineapple, red beans, avocado and jackfruit) or Es Pulau Sumatra with avocado juice, jackfruit, tapai and sirsak or Es Tropika with orange, mango, papaya and pineapple) oh, one more , Es Bali : red guave juice, avocado, jackfruit, young coconut, cincau and nata de coco.We had some corn fritters, which had a bit of sweetish flavour from the corn , to me this was more like a finger food thingy , but this was rather nice and went well with rice too.Udang goreng tepong / prawns in batter (Rp 32,000), like a tempura thing but the batter was more tasty ,  crispy and not as light as tempura flour, the prawns were juicy and fresh , this was very nice and I almost forgot my quota of 1 prawn/ meal..which meant : I completely ignored my prawn quota.Gurame telur asin : Gurame in salted egg ( Rp 49,000)  : imagine chunky deep fried fish fillet coated with  salted egg, my mouth waters thinking about this dish that we had. The fish was fresh and the salted egg coating just make the fish so much much more delicious. I likeeyKaredok , this was a raw vegetable salad , the peanut sauce had a rather heavy pungent taste which was a bit strong for me lah. According to Wikipedia : this is a signature Sudanese dish and it’s very similar to gado-gado, except all the vegetables are raw, while most of gado-gado vegetables are boiled Genjer in sambal – the vegetable is genjer- I don’t think I have ever tried this vegetable before, it looked something like chives but it was thicker and had more texture to it and also doesn’t come with that strong chives flavour, this was rather nice. Oh…found out from the Indonesia version of Wikipedia that this is a widely found at the padi fields  or shallow water. This is the source of vegetable for the poor, other names  are :  limnocharis, sawah-flower rush, sawah-lettuce, velvetleaf, yellow bur-head or cebolla de chucho. And from the pictures- genjer doesn’t look like chives lahh, more like water hyacinth Pak T must have missed his soup for he requested for Sup buntut ( Rp 34,000) , this was very rich with flavours of the spices and the moomoo, a bit too strong for me and kinda salty. Pak T seemed to enjoy this a lot and keep on saying that the sup is  good.

Overall, an enjoyable meal, there was a bit of a ‘fight’ over who was paying the bill, Pak T won- must be the power of the sup buntut.

Flavour Bliss Alam Sutera  is  a place where you can find loads of restaurants / eateries . Opposite is a shopping area and a very very gigantic Ace Hardware outlet which not just sell hardware ( like what I see inMalaysiaandPhilippines) , but everything you would need in the house  ( and possibly out of the house) including cooking utensils, things for the bedroom , decorative items etc

Eastern Kopitiam serves : Toast ( with kaya, cheese, peanut butter, strawberry etc ) , Nasi BBQ ( chicken (roast or steamed) rice, roast duck etc ) , New Asian favourites ( fried meehoon, noodles, koayteow, nasi lemak, fried raddish cake. Pad Thai,LaksaSingaporeetc), Bakmie ( bakso, koayteow, noodles etc )  , BBQ ( roast duck, roast chicken etc),  dimsum ( Siomay, Hakau, lo mai kai, bakpau tausar ( red bean paste pau) etc ) and a variety of beverages..i thought some of you might be interested to have a look at the list , so I nicked an order form.

Bebek panggang ( roast duck) – this came with sweet sauce – like the sauce you get with Peking duck. This was nice, the duck skin was crispy and the meat was tender , and the sauce was yummy..i likeyyy

Bakmie goreng with seafood – this was fried dry style and came with generous amounts of seafood, taste food too !

Nasi goreng ( fried rice) – kinda like the yongchow fried rice we get back in KL. Not bad lahh

Lumpia udang kulit tahu – soysheets spring rolls with prawns- to me horr , things that are deep fried always have an unfair advantage because most food taste good when they are deep fried. Including these spring rolls, the prawns fillings were abundant too.

Baby kailan with oyster sauce – the kailan was cooked just nice and complimented very well by the oyster sauce

Hakau – the skin was a bit sticky and thick but luckily this was saved by the prawns which were fresh and sweet

After all the above dishes, we were already feeling very filing, but Mr Host was again looking at the list and wanted to order some more dishes, we decided to just go for one last order- Durian pancake. The skin was thin but hard and doesn’t blend with the gooey custard inside, and sadly, the durian filing was a disappointment too..the durian aroma was missing, it was like a watered down durianOverall, an interesting and I would say rather enjoyable meal..

We loiter around the area for a bit ( and the guys need to smoke after the meal), there was a stage and according to Pak Host, there are performances every night from a variety of bands – sponsored by the big tobacco companies
