Yes, I am sorry, another posting about food at Kuchai Lama, well, I can’t help it if there are so many eateries around this area which is also pretty close to home mahh. Maybe I should rename this blog to, Bual Bual di Kuchai Lama ? Bual bual lama di Kuchai ? Kuchai Bual lama lama ? Bual 0 Kuchai 1 ?
It’s a pity they don’t serve wild boar at Ka Heong , I really missed wild boar curry,,so tasty , ..Oiinkkkkk..anyway, what to do but to at least have the domesticated cousin lorr..so, we ordered Curry pork ribs- (RM13). This was a bit curry powderish (- in a nice way) , we found the gravy kinda oily, although the meat was tender and not over fat plus melt in the mouth potatoes. Nice.
Tofu with Inoki mushroom (RM12) – fried Japanese tofu, plus lotsa inoki mushroom with sweet peas and carrots. This really tasted like a home cooked dish. Tasty and very pleasant. Simple yet good.
And the star of the meal…mini French beans with belacan (RM10), I am not sure are these really called mini French beans, the Chinese name written on the bill was : 桂豆苗, anyway, looks like French beans ( the mini version) , taste like French beans, must be French beans ? the beans were tender yet succulent and crunchy. The dried prawns, chili and belacan blend was a perfect 10. Very nice. Not a single molecule of dried prawns were found after we finished with this dish.
Total bill came to RM38.60 ( plus 2 rice and 2 herbal tea) which was a bit more expensive than what I expected. Anyway, the quality of the food was good, if you missed mum’s cooking ( assuming that your mum is not Puerto Rican, Alaskan, Swedish, Kiwi. Cuban, Italian, ….) then this would probably be a good substitute until your next balik kampong trip.
