The 7 Day Farmer

Wellllll….i would hardly qualify to be called a farmer..

Amidst the  ‘ubah gaya hidup anda’, ‘spend wisely’, ‘grow your own vegetables’ ( not mentioning ‘Abolish ISA’ ) slogans going around, I signed some petitions, and grew my own vegetables…

 Weelll….sprouting alfalfas could qualify as growing my own vegetables, can ? can ? can ?

 Thanks to Ms Chuah for providing me with the alfalfas seeds – my try-out before investing in my own seedlings.( just in case the sprouts turns out ‘too green’ for my palate ) ( alfalfa seeds can be purchase from most organic shops)

 Step 1 . prepare the media, a sieve would work well, line them with cloth / cotton (this remind me of the taugeh science project back in primary school) for this 1st trial , I lined the sieve with tissues. Make sure that the cloth/cotton/tissues are constantly wet/ moist ( I have the sieve on top of a bowl filled with water and the water level just nicely reaching the tissues to wet them)

 Step 2. Scatter the seeds…..may tall trees grow from seeds I sow….


NB: I was not sure will the seeds be ‘attacked’ by ants / lizards/toyol , so I had the bowl on top of a plateful of water – as a kiasu measure.

 I store them at the kitchen-with some sunlight but not under direct sunlight
